The Art of Keeping Cool

Wow it is hot! It was 103 today and we have not had rain in a long time. The crunching sound that my grass makes is not good.

Remember when I told you about this estate sale? This is the "scrapbook" that I found at the bottom of a pile of junk. It is actually a sample book for a clothing company. Most of it is covered up with magazine clippings. They appear to be from the WWII era.
I had fun reading through the "ads" for the clothing. You will have to click on these pictures so you can actually read what they say.
Picnic anyone? I love the photos in the book. I think they will be fun to use in cards.
Here is one of the magazine clippings.
The latest fashions....
I thought this was interesting. That was a lot of money back then.
Even horses need a break from the heat!
We had a good weekend visiting friends and going to a wedding - a very fancy wedding. I've never seen so many flowers in one place. It was beautiful. The wedding music was a string quartet. Very romantic! The hard part about being gone for the weekend is coming home and getting back in the groove of things. It was hard to get motivated today.

I'm going to get off the computer and watch Veggie Tales with my kids. No, you can never outgrow Veggie Tales.

{"But blessed is the man who trusts me, God, the woman who sticks with God. They're like trees replanted in Eden, putting down roots near the rivers—Never a worry through the hottest of summers, never dropping a leaf, serene and calm through droughts, bearing fresh fruit every season." Jer. 17:7-8}

Hey, it's Kelly. I wanted to let you know that we get the apple juice at Walgreens - it has to be ordered through a pharmacy (but you DO NOT need a prescription for it!) Walgreens seems to be the cheapest place $25 a case - which is 27 juice boxes. Brooklyn loves it! 300 calories per box and lots of vitamins - my mom in law is a hospice nurse and told me about it.

the old scrap book is really neat great find - you could take the old pics of men and women's clothes, etc and frame them to hang in your bathroom. i've seen this done in restaurants
glad you're home safe and sound
