Then & Now

As I was unpacking boxes last week I came across this little pinafore that my mom made for me when I was four years old. Wonder if it would still fit my Sweet Girl? Hmmmm.....
Yes, this is me back in '77. Can you believe I was able to find this picture?
This is Sweet Girl right here in '08. The little squirt WILL NOT look at me when I have the camera on her. She knows. She looks away and grins that ornery grin. The pinafore barely fit her, but it was fun to see her wear it.

I went to a JUNK store the other day. One of those places you can barely get through without breaking a leg. It was dirty and there was no AC. Normal people wouldn't consider it a fun place to shop. Me? I was disappointed that I got there only 15 minutes before closing. I needed more time! And the place was huge! The shop owner happened to mention that prices weren't necessarily "firm." Wonder if she would take less than $20 for this old green rocking chair? Guess so! Have I mentioned that I like to have coffee on my front porch? Oh? Just a few times? Sorry.
Look! It is our newest neighbor. His name is Sammy and he was born last Thursday. He lives just down the road. Isn't he adorable?

Our little "neighborhood" - about 7 families - is having a 4th of July bash. I guess they do it each year. Four of the houses out here (ours isn't one of them) are built around a little pond. Everyone gets together and eats and then they shoot fireworks over the pond. We are really looking forward to it. It is fun to live in the country (we have about 13 acres) and yet still have neighbors to socialize with.

Once again, I need to get off this computer and get things done around here. Yes, there are still boxes to be unpacked.

{My people will live in a peaceful neighborhood— in safe houses, in quiet gardens....But you will enjoy a blessed life, planting well-watered fields and gardens, with your farm animals grazing freely. Isaiah 32:18, 20}

That is so neat you found the pinafore and the picture. You were a cutie, also. Looks like you maybe had a dress plus a cap to match. Glad sweet girl could fit into it. Hope you have a great celebration with your new neighbors. If I remember correctly, you began your blog with Americana. You have done a wonderful thing with your it.

So many sweet things to comment on today! I love the picture of you in the sweet outfit, that you then put on your little girl! How precious!!!! The new little donkey is adorable! What'a a baby donkey called? Not a kid? The rocker for your porch is perfect! And, I would have had the same reaction in the JUNK store: what? only 15 minutes? how will i look through all this??

Hope you and family have a super fun 4th and enjoy getting to know your new neighbors. They will be blessed by you and family, I'm sure!

Happy 4th!
